On 1st March, 1992, the foundation stone of the then Vocational Training Centre dedicated to St. John Bosco was blessed by His Grace, Most Rev. Dr. S. N. Ezeanya,
on the occasion of the commissioning of the DON BOSCO YOUTH CENTER by the then Executive Governor of Anambra State, His Excellency, Chief Dr. Chukwuemeka Pius Ezeife.
The multipurpose hall became the first workshop for training of youth, while Rev. Bro. Carlo M. Bacalla was appointed the Director of Training.
The first students were enrolled in Electrical Installation and Welding and graduated in 1996.
Since then, the institute has continued to expand with improved infrastructure and new courses enrolled.
Presently, the Institute runs 3 Departments: Mechanical Engineering Technology offering skills in Bench work and Fittings, Welding and Fabrication,
Machine Operations–lathe, milling, CNC, Fundamentals of Engine, etc; Electrical Electronics Engineering Technology offering skills in Power Generation and Transmission,
Domestic and Industrial Installations, Solar Installation and Maintenance, Motor Winding and Control, Basic Electronics, Instrumentation, etc;
and Computer Information Technology offering skills in Hardware and Software Maintenance, Desktop Publishing, Graphics and Design, Web Development,
Java, Python, Networking, Database, etc.
JOBITECH has proven a notable stakeholder in technical education in Nigeria with the training of over 2000 students/trainees and has contributed to the wealth
of technicians spread across varied industries in Nigeria and abroad.
Jobitech offers competent based trainings with the aim to situate the trainees in labour market as skilled technicians, who can either be employed or self-employed.
The aim is to help reduce the rate of unemployment among the youth and equally curb crime rate in our society.
The Institute received statutory approval from the Ministry of Education Anambra State on 23rd June 1998, has got Federal Government Accreditation under the auspices of National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) Kaduna on 16th July 1999; and has got recognition and approved examination centre for National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) Benin City on the 14th of December 1999. Also, the Computer Department was given the Approval by the Ministry of Education Anambra State on 21st November 2001. In addition, the institute was admitted as Corporate of the Nigeria Computer Society on the 22nd of July, 2015. The certificate of incorporation as John Bosco Institute of Technology is in existence. The upgrading of the institute (JOBITECH) to the awarding of National Diploma is in progress.
